Origin
Origin
Ethiopia's Sidamo region is legendary coffee country, its woredas and kebeles each hosting washing stations with distinct terroir. Bochessa, in the Arbegona woreda, was founded in 2022 on 1.5 hectares and now processes 500-600 tons of green coffee a year from 823 farmers. Cherry is washed, pulped, fermented, and dried, then carefully tracked by supplier and origin all the way to the dry mill. Farms here are tiny — 0.1 to 2 hectares — shaded by false banana trees and rarely fertilized, though the soil hardly needs it. With dirt roads the norm, cherry often arrives by motorcycle, horse, or donkey. Coffee is Arbegona's lifeblood, woven into a Sidamo culture whose language and traditions still shape daily life.
